   Ng Tung Chai
    Site Description

Ng Tung Chai is a village located at Tai Po Lam Tsuen Valley, Tai Po district. The survey route starts from the village edge and ends at the Ng Tung Chai waterfall area where it falls within Tai Mo Shan Country Park. The first part of the route is an open area of agricultural land and village edge vegetation. It changes to closed canopy shrub and mature woodland in the river valley.

    Site Protection

The site is within both Tai Mo Shan Country Park and the abutting village.

    Transportation

Kowloon Motor Bus:
64K  Tai Po Market Railway Station - Yuen Long (West)
65K  Tai Po Market Railway Station - Sheung Tsuen
Disembark at Ng Tung Chai stop and walk uphill towards Man Tak Yuen.

Green Minibus:              
25K  Tai Po Market (Wai Yan Street) - Ng Tung Chai
Disembark at Ng Tung Chai and walk uphill towards Man Tak Yuen. 

    Survey method
The survey methodology was devised with reference to Carey et al. 2001. The site was surveyed by at least two group members in the morning (between 7am and 11am) using 1.5-hours line transects. Bird species and relative abundance were recorded by sighting and/or hearing during the survey. Other information such as weather and temperature, were also recorded during the survey.
