   Hong Kong Wetland Park
    Site Description

Located in Tin Shui Wai North in the New Territories, Hong Kong Wetland Park is an ecological mitigation area established to compensate the loss of wetland habitats due to the extensive new town development in Tin Shui Wai. Various kinds of wetland habitats, such as freshwater marshes, streams, mangrove beds, mudflats, paddy fields, fishponds and reed beds have been created in the Park to provide a haven for diverse dragonfly species. About 50 species have been recorded in the Park since the Park's opening in May 2006.

    Site Protection

The site is designated as Special Area under the management of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Government of the Hong Kong SAR.

All the dragonflies observed along the transect were identified visually, with the aid of a pair of close-focusing binoculars, to species level following Wilson et al. (2004).
