   Sunset Peak
    Site Description

Rising in the centre of Lantau Island, Sunset Peak is the third highest peak (869 metres) in Hong Kong. Small trickles are found running through the montane woodlands high up on the mountain. This habitat type provides a haven for some local damselfly species.

    Site Protection

The site is within Lantau North and Lantau South Country Parks.

    Transportation

New Lantau Bus:
3M    Tung Chung Town Centre - Mui Wo
11     Tung Chung Town Centre - Tai O
23     Tung Chung Town Centre - Ngong Ping
A35   Hong Kong International Airport - Mui Wo 
Disembark at Pak Kung Au stop and walk along Lantau Trail (Stage 2) towards Sunset Peak for about 2 hours to the entrance of Wong Lung Hang Country Trail.

4       Mui Wo - Tong Fuk
Disembark at Nam Shan stop and walk along Lantau Trail (Stage 2) towards Sunset Peak for about 2.5 hours to the entrance of Wong Lung Hang Country Trail.

    Survey method

The surveys focused on adults and were carried out on sunny/fine and windless days between 09:00 and 15:00. Walking transect count method along a standard route was adopted. All the dragonflies observed along the transect were identified visually, with the aid of a pair of close-focusing binoculars, to species level following Wilson et al. (2004).
