   Lau Shui Heung Reservoir
    Site Description

Lau Shui Heung Reservoir is located in the Pat Sin Leng Country Park.  The reservoir is located in a sheltered valley and fringed with mature woodland.  The water depth varies across the reservoir and the bottom sediment comprises particles of various sizes.  This environmental setting provides diverse habitat types for different fish species.  Apart from a country trail and two barbecue sites, there is no development near the reservoir.

    Site Protection

The site is within Pat Sin Leng Country Park.

    Transportation

Green Minibus:
52B   Fanling Railway Station Minibus Terminal - Hok Tau
Disembark at Lau Shui Heung and walk along Lau Shui Heung Road for about 15 minutes.

    Survey method

-Direct identification of fish by visual observation at the reservoir bank.  A pair of binoculars may be used to identify fish far from the bank.

-Use of a D-framed hand net of 3mm mesh size to sweep in the water to catch fish for identification.

-Use of baited pot trap with 3mm mesh size, set in the water for 20 minutes to attract.

-Fish collected are identified following Field Guide to the Freshwater Fish of Hong Kong (Lee et al. (2004))
